The School of Environmental Studies embraces a holistic and interdisciplinary approach, integrating disciplines such as biological sciences, chemistry, and social sciences to address environmental issues comprehensively. The school advocates for sustainability in campus operations, promoting practices like waste reduction, energy efficiency, and water conservation. Research and innovation are encouraged, focusing on pressing environmental issues such as waste management, climate change and pollution control, with collaboration between academic institutions, government bodies, and NGOs. Additionally, the school emphasizes community engagement and experiential learning, organizing workshops, fieldwork, and internships to provide real-world exposure. Continuous curriculum updates and the promotion of sustainable practices further solidify the school’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
Workshop on Environmental and Social Impact Assessment was conducted by School of Environmental Studies on 10/02/2025. As part of the programme Mr Anandraj M A, Environmental Specialist has given the lecture.
Pachathuruthu Inauguration-In association with Thunchath Eezhuthachan Malayalam University and Haritha Kerala Mission Malappuram ‘Pachathuruthu’ was developed on the campus and Inaugurated by Dr L Sushama, Vice Chancellor on 29/01/2024. As part of the programme Dr. Anoop Das K S, Assistant Professor, Zoology Department, MES college, Mampad has given a lecture on the topic ’Microecosystem and Biodiversity Conservation’.
Water budget workshop – As part of the Haritha Keralam mission Water budget project, the School of Environmental Studies conducted a ‘Water budget Workshop’ on 25/01/2024. Mr. Mansoor Panthallookaran, Resource person, Haritha Keralam Mission led the class.
World Environment Day Celebration 2023- As part of the Environment Day Celebration School of Environmental Studies, Bhoomitrasena, National Service Scheme jointly conducted a programme on ‘Wastefree, Nava Keralam-Cleaning-Awareness’ on 05/06/2023. Mr. Jay Somanathan V K delivered a lecture on the topic ‘Organic waste treatment and Inorganic waste management’.
Environmental Studies Association Inauguration- Environmental Studies Association was formed at Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University and was inaugurated by Dr. P S Easa, Chairman, Aranyakam Nature Foundation on 15/11/2022. As part of this programme, he delivered a talk on the topic ‘Ecotourism in Kerala’.
World Environment Day Celebration – As part of World Environment Day School of Environmental Studies, the National Service Scheme and the Bhoomitrasena Club jointly arranged programmes. Vice Chancellor Dr Anil Vallathol inaugurated the programme at the auditorium on 06/06/2022. Dr. Joyce Jose, Assistant Professor, Zoology department, St Thomas College, Thrissur delivered a class on the topic ‘An introduction to Biodiversity based on management of Myristica Swamps’.
World Water Day- Mangrove study tour – As part of World Water Day Thuchathezhuthachan Malayalam University and Bhoomitrasena Club jointly conducted a study tour to mangrove forests in Pulluni, Mangalam panchayath on 22/03/2022. Mrs Jayasree P, Teacher, PKTBN School delivered class on the topics Peculiarities of Mangroves and present challenges
Bhoomitrasena Inauguration – Bhoomitrasena Club of Thuchathezhuthachan Malayalam University was inaugurated on 09/03/2022, by Vice Chancellor, Dr Anil Vallathol. As part of this programme, a talk was delivered by Dr Jayasooryan K K, Scientist B, CWRDM, Kozhikode on the topic ‘Biodiversity and Invasive species.
World Wildlife Week Celebration – As part of World Wildlife Week Celebration, the School of Environmental Studies conducted a expert talk on the topic ‘Biodiversity around us’ on 07/10//2021. Mr. Abdul Riyas K, Assistant Professor, Govt Arts and Science college, Kozhikode delivered a lecture.
World Ozone Day Celebration- As part of World Ozone Day – 2021, the School of Environmental Studies conducted a seminar on the topic ‘Thoughts on Ozone Day’ on 21/09/2021. Satheesh Kumar M K, Adjunct Professor, Manipal Academy of Higher Education delivered a lecture.
