About 

Dr. Ashok D'Cruz, a native of Mundakkal in Kollam district, has been active in the fields of language, literature, and research for the past twenty years. In 2020, the Government of Kerala honoured Dr. Ashok D'Cruz with the ‘Malayala Bhasha Prathibha Award’ for his contributions toward making Malayalam language technology-friendly. The ‘Dr. K. M. George Memorial Research Award’, instituted by the Kerala Bhasha Institute under the Department of Culture, Government of Kerala, was received in 2023 for contributions to Malayalam research. Forty-four books have been published across various fields, leading to inclusion in the India Book of Records for publishing the highest number of research-related books in Malayalam. Currently serving as an Assistant Professor at Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University, with additional roles as Syndicate Member, Senate Member, Director of Student Welfare, and Chairman of the M.A. Malayala Board of Studies. The short film Nishagandhi, written and directed by Dr. Ashok D'Cruz, won the State Award for Best Director at the 'Kazhcha' Film Festival in 2009, organized by the Department of General Education, Government of Kerala.

Awards

• Malayala Bhasha Prathibha Award (2020) – Instituted by the Malayalam Mission under the Department of Culture, Government of Kerala. (This international award is presented for contributions towards making the Malayalam language more technology-friendly. Dr. Ashok D'Cruz was the first recipient of this honour. The award includes a cash prize of ₹1 lakh, a statuette, and a citation.)
• Dr. K. M. George Memorial Research Award (2023) – Awarded for the best Malayalam research paper by the Kerala Bhasha Institute under the Department of Culture, Government of Kerala. (The honour was conferred for the thesis titled “Basic Principles of Word Classification- Study based on Malayalam Grammar Texts.” The award includes a cash prize of ₹1 lakh, a statuette, and certificate.)
• N. V. Krishnawarrier Memorial Scientific Award (2025) – Presented by the Nilav Samskarika Vedi for the work Word Classification and Malayalam Grammar Texts. (The award includes a cash prize of ₹25,000, a statuette, and a certificate of appreciation.)
• Sahitya Ratna Award (2025) – Presented by the Poovachal Khader Cultural Forum. (The award includes a cash prize of ₹25,000, a statuette, and a citation.)
• Golden Peacock Award (2024) – Instituted by the Malayalam Sahitya Akademi & Research Centre. The award was presented for the children's literary work Aa For Aana. (It includes a cash prize of ₹25,000, a statuette, and a certificate of appreciation.)
• Golden Book International Award (2023) – Instituted by Wings Publication International.
• A. T. Nanu Master Memorial Scientific Award (2024) – Presented by Cherussery Sahitya Vedi for the work Word Classification and Malayalam Grammar Texts. (The award includes a cash prize of ₹11,111, a statuette, and a certificate of appreciation.)
