2017

  • Oct 9-10 . Drishyam
  •  Nov 7- 9.Film Criticism: Theory, Practice and New Avenues 2017
  • November 16-18. Penma: International women Film Festival
  • 4-8 Feb . Film making Training in Cinematography. Sri Praveen Panicker , Cinematographer led the training programme for Semester II students
  • 2017 January 27-30 Darshini-2017– International Film Festival. Inauguration by the acclaimed film director Sri Lenin Rajendran. The Second Darshini award was given to the Veteran Director Sri K. S. Sethumadhavan and the Award to New Malayalam Cinema was given to ‘Ottayalpatha’ directed by Sri Santhosh Babusenan and Sri Sathish Babusenan. The Festival Book and Daily Festival Bullettin ‘Frames’ were also published in connection with the Festival. 80 films in six sections were screened along with ‘Face to Face’ with Film Direcors and ‘ Visual Discourse ‘with Film critics.
  • Study Tour. The Study tour of Semester IV students were conducted to Hyderabad Ramoji Film City and Hampi from 14 – 20 March. The Study tour of Semester II students were held from 6-9 March
  • 3-12 April 2017. Special Practical Training Programme in filmmaking at K. R. Narayanan Institute of Visual Sciences and Arts for the students of Semester II and IV
  • June 29- July4. Adoor Film Festival. A festival of the films of Adoor Gopalakrishnan were held. Swayamvaram, Elippathayam, Mukhamukham, Anantharam,Mathilukal, Vidheyan, Nizhalkkuthu and Pineeyum were screened. A programme ‘ With Adoor’ was held on 4th July and Sri Adoor Gopalakrishnan took part in the ‘Face to Face’ programme and and presented a talk on the ‘Challenges in Film Studies’.
  • The result of the first batch of students of the M.A Programme are out on 26 August 2017.

2016

  • 27-30 January. Darshini-2016.International Film Festival. Inauguration By R. Shyamaprasad, Filmmaker. Two awards – Darshini Award for total contribution to cinema and Award for Best New Malayalam Cinema- were newly introduced. The First Darshini award winner was the celebrated Malayalam Actor, Director and Producer Sri Madhu and the Award for the new Malayalam Cinema went to ‘Kaliyachan’ directed by Sri Farooq Abdul Rahman. 70 films were screened in 6 Sections and Festival Book, Daily Festival Bulletin were also published.
  • 16-20 February. Film making Training in Cinematography. Sri Praveen Panicker, Cinematographer led the training Programme
  • 2-4 March . Filmmaking Training in Editing. Sri Sajid, Film Editor led the programme
  • 20-23 March . Filmmaking training in Sound Recording. Eminent Sound Technician Sri Krishnanunni led the training course
  • 25-28 March. Filmmaking Training in Graphic Designing at EMMRC, Calicut University under the leadership of Sri Damodar Prasad , Director of the centre
  • 6 June. Special Talk on Art Direction. A special talk on Art Direction was presented by Prof. James Taylor, Pomona College Theatre, Los Angeles to the Students of Film Studies
  • September 7. Special Screening of ‘SarkarakondoruThulabharam’’. Eminent Actress of the film Smt Urmila Unni was the chief Guest
  • 19-22 October .Drisyam-2016- International Documentary Film Festival. Inauguration by Sri Vipin Vijay, acclaimed film director. 8 Documentary films were screened and discussions held.
  • 16-18 November. Penma-2016- International Women Film Festival, inaugurated by the film director Smt Vidhu Vincent. 9 Internationally acclaimed films were screened followed by discussions
  • 20 December. Stage Presentation and Documentary Screening. A group of artists from Nirman Kalakendra, Varanasi headed by Smt. Irfana Majumdar presented the stage programme ‘ The Hero, the Apple and the Ring’ and the documentary ‘ Children Playing Gods’

2015

  • 12 November. Inaugural Seminar on ‘Approaches and Possibilities of Film Studies’’– Sri Kamal, Chairman, Kerala State Chalachitra Academy inaugurated the Seminar. Sri C.S.Venkiteswaran and Sri I. Shanmukhadas presented the papers.
  • 5 -7 December. Workshop in Scriptwriting. Veteran Script writer Sri John Paul led the three day workshop. Eminent scriptwriters Sri C.V.Balakrishnan and Sri K.B.Venu were the experts attended the workshop.
  • 26-28 November.Drisyam-2015.International Documentary Film Festival. Inauguration by documentary filmmaker Sri O.K.Johny. 11 Documentary Films were screened and discussions followed.
