Darsini International film festival will begin today (18-7-2018)

Malayalam University Vice Chancellor Dr. Anil Vallathol will inaugurate the two-day international film festival Darsini at 10 am today. Renowned film maker P. P. sudevan will be the chief guest of the occasion. His film akatho puratho will be screened as the opening film. As the curtain raises for the film festival the novel beats and bounties of  Indian as well as world cinema will be attested on the four screens of the university. As to the thirty plus films to be screened at the festival , they received accolades from the world audience at large and especially the eight films included in the travelogue  category are never to be missed. In the category of travel movies the following movies will be screened- Ten by Abbas Kairostami, Directions by Stephen Komantarev, In July by Fatih Akin   , Letter to America by Iglika Triffonova , The way back by Peter Weir, Central Station by Walter Salles and Bekas by Karzan Kader.

Apart from the award winning movies of yester years, movies by the Serbian director and actor Emir Kusturica  ( The time of Gypsies, Black Cat white cat, On the milky road and Life is a miracle) will be screened in the retro section. There will be special screenings of the films Alorukkam by V C Abhilash and Vishu by V. C. Davison.

The valedictory session will be inaugurated by prominent film director Priyanandan. Edan, directed by Sanju Surendran will be screened as the closing film.
