In collaboration with Tubingen University, Germany

• Herman Gundert Chair was established by the Malayalam University at the Tubingen University.
• Prof. Scaria Zachariah the distinguished Gundert scholar was appointed as Gundert Chair Professor. Prof. M. Sreenathan is designated as the Visiting Academic of the Chair.
• Gundert Chair came into existence on 9 October 2015. Shri Jayakumar, the Vice Chancellor of the Malayalam University and Professor Karin Amos, Vice President of the Tubingen University jointly inaugurated it in a function held at Tubingen University.
• Under the Chair, Malayalam University can access the rich Gundert Archives at Tubingen University. Accordingly two books; Keralanatakam and Nalacharitam Manipravalam  have been published by Malayalam University. More works are under scrutiny
• As part of the collaborative project a comprehensive two-volume book on Gundert and Kerala, edited by Prof Scaria Zacharia was published by the University recently.

A Study Centre for the dedicated study and research on Thunchath Ezhuthachan was launched on 31st August 2015. The centre was inaugurated by Sri. M. T. Vasudevan Nair. The Ezhuthachan Study Centre envisages measures to facilitate deeper studies and research on Ezhuthachan, encourage new translators and consolidate all available literature and knowledge on Ezhuthachan and his times.

Planned to build up an international repository for Arabi Malayalam studies

The Centre for Language Technology aims at developing key digital language resources and language technology application for Malayalam Language. The Centre is a part of University's efforts to promote digitization of Malayalam language, which includes initiatives like development of digital lexicon, digital library and various language apps. Apart from developing language processing resources, it would produce digitals tools including android apps to learn Malayalam easily and place it globally.

Malayalam University has established a Heritage Museum under the Museum Project. The Museum exhibits objects and representations pertaining to the literary, agricultural, anthropological and cultural antiquity of Kerala. This museum presents objects, pictures and materials that evoke the dimensions of Kerala's social history and antiquity. Our knowledge about the intellectual, commercial and agricultural traditions of Kerala has been represented in a condensed form. The museum also tries to place the legacy of local histories and culture alongside our contemporary awareness and knowledge. This is a prelude to setting up an elaborate Museum on Kerala Heritage.
