Balachandran Chullikkad opined in the Vallathol memorial lecture jointly conducted by MU and the Vallathol Chair of Keralakalamandalam deemed university that Vallathol was a proud fighter opposing cultural domination. He said that Vallathol implied the positive aspects of life through various metaphors and his intention was to achieve ultimate purgation. His poems were catalysts for social and communal liberation. The event was inaugurated by Dr N R Gramaprakash, registrar, Keralakalamandalam deemed university. VC Dr Anil Vallathol presided over the function and said that Vallathol's romantic ideas travelled far in future. Dr T Anithakumary, dean of the faculty of Literary studies gave welcome speech and Dr C Ganesh delivered vote of thanks.
