Environmental history should be taken into account in Development ventures – Dr Easa

While development schemes are formulated, the environmental history of the locality should indispensably be taken account of, said  Dr Easa, former Scientist at Peechy Forest Research Centre and member National Board for Wild Life, while delivering a lecture on “ Preserving Biodiversity and its Challenges” as part of the Wild Life Week observation at Malayala Sarvakalasala. Nature conservation laws practically aim for the protection of only forests and wild animals. The approach should be the conservation of the whole ecosystem. Children should start imbibing lessons of conservation from their home.  They should be able to form their social life through observation, reading, travel and communication with others. While discussion water conservation we should pay attention to streams, ponds and other water resources. Water should be available not just to humans but also to other beings. Measures like building sea wall can destroy the ecosystem and will affect not just the seashore but also humans.
