University undertook a few surveys in Vettom Panchayat.
The Survey Reports were shared with the elected representatives and officers of the Grama Panchayat.
Three projects were identified by the University for Implementation in Vettom Panchayat.
Young Men's Reading Room and Library at Padiyam, Vettom was identified for being modernization. University provided an amount of Rs. 1.5 lakhs and succeeded in getting financial assistance of almost 3 lakhs from Raja Rammohun Roy Library Foundation, Kolkata an amount of 3.5 lakhs. The University has succeeded in transforming a rural library into a modern library and resource centre with all modern facilities.
The University has taken up a new scheme by which all the 8 divisions in a nearby Government UP School was provided with a class room library with a shelf and more than 100 books per class. The project is aimed at encouraging teachers to issue the books to the students and persuade them to read.
It was decided to provide child friendly furniture and play materials ti five anganwadies. Besides it is proposed to improve the hygienic conditions at these anganwadies by improving toilets and such facilities.
The National Service Scheme of Malayalam University began functioning on July 20, 2016. 108 persons signed agreements for organ donation on the day of inauguration. Fr. David Chiramel, Chairman, Kidney Federation of India conducted the inauguration in a simple function. An eye care camp in the name "Sudarsanam" and a Heart Disease Diagnosis Camp named “Hardam’ were organized by the NSS. Dr. Saithalavi, Asst Professor, Linguistics is the N. S. S. National Education day was celebrated by N.S.S.units of the University. A discussion on ‘Challenges in the field of Higher Education’ and ‘ Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad Remembrance’ were also held in connection with the celebration. Various competitions for students were also organized.
A pain and Palliative unit named ‘Kattadi’ was formed under the auspices of N.S.S Unit of the University. It was inaugurated on 8 November, 2016. Smt .Sheeba Amir, writer and Social Activist was the chief guest on the occasion. Thirty inmates from ‘Karunya ‘Palliative Centre from Tirur were brought to the University, taken to the Library and Museum and a short film was also screened for them. The inauguration of the proposed Health Survey in Vettom Panchayat was also inaugurated on the occasion. The clothes collected from students and the books donated by the Vice Chancellor and the University Library were also handed over to the Karunya inmates in the function.

The International Yoga day is regularly celebrated by the University with lecture and demonstration. A Yoga Club is also being formed.
