Dr. V. Anil Kumar assumed office as the Vice Chancellor of Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University. As he came to campus, he was welcomed by the registrar K. M. Bharathan, Students Welfare Dean Dr. T. Anithakumari, teachers, students and non teaching staff.
Dr. V. Anilkumar is a Professor in the department of Malayalam, Calicut University apart from being a prominent writer and critic in Malayalam. He is better known by his pen name Anil Vallathol. He is a native of Mangalam, Tirur in Malappuram district. He passed MA Malayalam from Calicut University with first rank in 1986. He has more than 30 years of experience in teaching and has published around 15 books and 70 research articles. He has worked at Kaladi Sanskrit University and Kannur University before. He is a member of board of studies of various universities in India.
Assuming office as the Vice Chancellor , Mr Anilkumar said that the future development of Malayalam University will not just be through post graduation courses but rather through its contributions in research. Knowledge should be produced and perfected through Malayalam language and that will be the priority of the university, he added. MU is for the development of the language and its permanent campus should be built in Tirur ; the place which holds a prominent position in the cultural development of Kerala. The delay in acquiring land for the university is due to our wish to reach a consensus regarding the land. Similarly, in order for the courses offered in the university and its staff to attain their goals everyone should work together, keeping aside any vested interest, he emphasized. After that he held a meeting with the teaching and non teaching staff.
