Prof. (Dr.) L. Sushama

Vice Chancellor

Dr. Sushama L. is a distinguished academic leader and scholar whose career spans research, teaching, and administration. Born in 1965 in the picturesque district of Alappuzha, Kerala, she pursued her college education and research at the University of Kerala. In 1993, she earned her Ph.D. on the study based on short stories of Thakazhi Sivasankara Pillai, and has since contributed significantly to literary and linguistic scholarship with publications such as Cherukathaaprasthaanathile Takazhichitta (1997), Lalitha Bhashaashasthram (1997), Valiya Daivangalum Cheriya Kaaryangalum (1998), Novelvaayanakal: Pazhamayum Puthumayum (2015), and Novelvimarshanathinte penvazhikal.

Since 1995, Dr. Sushama has served as a professor at the Sree Sankara University of Sanskrit, Kalady, where her passion for teaching and research has influenced countless students and scholars. Under her mentorship, six Ph.D. candidates have successfully made notable contributions in grammar, language studies, linguistics, women's studies, and novel-story research. Her commitment to academic excellence extends well beyond the classroom. During her tenure as Director of the Tirur (Tirunavaya) Regional Centre of the Sanskrit University, she played a pivotal role in transforming the same into a center of academic excellence, overseeing the development of its dedicated land, infrastructure, and facilities.

In recognition of her exemplary academic and administrative achievements, Dr. Sushama was appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University, Tirur, in June 2023. In this esteemed role, she is dedicated to devising and implementing innovative projects aimed at enhancing both the academic environment and the physical infrastructure of the university.
