It Is good Literature that retains it’s Language: says U.K Kumaran

Addressing the Literature Summit organized by the Department of Literary Studies Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University as part of  world Mother tongue Day, U. K Kumaran said that good language and imagination will result in good literature and that will in turn preserve the language.   government programs and laws to enrich and preserve mother tongue have not been fruitful. One’s mother tongue is not to be learned in isolation from other languages; rather it should be the means of progress. In his Key note address Kalpetta Narayanan  opined that man could create wonders in language. But it (Language ) has reduced other means of communication. with the the advent of systematized language sign languages and various gestures gradually disappeared. He added that it is the wonders of words which has initiated him to the world of poetry. The event was presided by Dr. T . Anithakumary. Dr. E. Radhakrishnan, Dr. C. Ganesh, and M. Vineesh talked at the function. C. Radhakrishnan inaugurated the function at the after noon to felicitate student achievers. He said that writers should engage in self criticism and improve themselves. A mix of mother tongue and other languages will not help the growth of mother tongue. language should be internalized in its  essential purity. Students who have bagged achievements- Anto sabin Joseph(First prize, Mathrbhumi International short story competition) , Dinnu Mon (Listed in the final twenty for  Mathrbhumi International short story competition), Adila Kabeer (Prof.Kozhisseri  Balaraman Memorial young talent award), Dhimna Raj (CUBE Fellowship)- were felicitated.
