Shri Arif Mohammed Khan, born on 18 November 1951 in Bulandshahar, UP, is the current Governor of Kerala and Chancellor of Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University. He has a distinguished academic background with schooling at Jamia Millia, New Delhi, and higher education including a BA (Hons.) from AMU Aligarh and an LL.B. from Lucknow University.
Shri Arif Mohammed Khan has held significant leadership roles, serving as the General Secretary and President of the AMU Students Union in the early 1970s. His political career includes being an MLA for Siyana, Bulandshahar (1977-80), and an MP (Lok Sabha) for Kanpur and Bahraich across multiple terms. He has also served as Deputy Minister for Information and Broadcasting, State Minister for Agriculture, Energy, Industry & Co. Affairs, Home Affairs, and Cabinet Minister for Energy and Civil Aviation.
A prolific author, Shri Arif Mohammed Khan wrote "Text and Context: Quran and Contemporary Challenges," published by Rupa in 2010.
