Subaltern Studies Centre at Malayalasarvakalasala
Malayala Sarvakalasala is instituting a centre for Subaltern Studies under the Department of Cultural Studies. The centre aims to ensure equal opportunity to marginalized sections and promotion of studies and research on their cultural, artistic and knowledge heritage. A workshop will be conducted on October 9, prior to starting the centre. Dr Jayakumar, Vice Chancellor will inaugurate the workshop which will be attended by K.K. Koch, Sunny N. Kapikkad, Dr P Pavithran, Dr Dileep Raj, Dr Ummar Tharamel, Dr M B Manoj, J Devika, Dr K S Madhavan and Dr K. M. Anilkumar. Dr K M Bharathan, head of the department of Cultural Studies will moderate the discussion. The centre will start functioning on November 1.
It is also the aim of the centre to intervene academically as well as practically in the social issues faced by the marginalized sections, to collect the studies made so far on them and to formulate new schemes aimed at them.
