Lecture series in memorial of Prof. Elamkulam Kunjan Pilla
Under the auspices of ThunchathuEzhuthachan Malayalam University the department of History had started Lecture series in memorial of Prof. Elamkulam Kunjan Pilla. The first of these lecture series started in 11 July 2017 with the talk of Prof. M G S Narayanan on ‘Kerala History: New Hypothesis and Changing Approaches.’ The function started with the welcome speech of Prof. K. M. Bharathan, Dean,Faculty of Heritage Studies and History. The function was presided over by K. Jayakumar, Vice chancellor, Malayalam University. Prof. M R RaghavaVarier, Head of the Department, Department of History, introduced Elamkuam and his historical perspectivebefore the audience. Prof M G S Narayanan through his speech inspired the students andshared his experiences with his teacher Elamkulam. The speech imparted a wide variety of ideas on Kerala history especially the period of Perumals of Mahodayapuram, Kuruvazhcha, matrilineal system, village systems, chieftains, coinage, slavery, etc.
